New Look Facebook

I'm enjoying a good browse around the new look facebook, it's interesting - a lot less claustrophobic, but nothing more.

I barely use Facebook except to see if anyone has tried to contact me on it. I wish people would just send me an email instead of a facebook message. Also, the whole world seems to have forgotten about instant messaging - maybe because we're all in jobs now that have big heavy firewalls.

I'll soon be getting access to internal instant messaging - which will be great for sorting out a lot of one-liner emails I seem to have to send...

Sean Learns to Drive: Week 1

Another thing that's been on my NY resolutions list for some time now is to learn how to drive. I've had some savings for the last few years to help me with this but never got around to actually learning.

I completed my theory test at the beginning of the month - on the 4th of July to be exact - and that was a lot of fun. I only gave myself a week to study, and I barely scraped by, but I passed and so yesterday I had my first practical lesson.

It was ver good overall. We went through all the basic techniques and manoeuvres before we drove a few very slow circuits. By the end we had moved onto second gear - which is where my one and only stall happened.

Very happy with the progress overall.

GTD: How?

Had the most frustrating day at work in which the urgent things I had lined up to do had to be parked for more immediate work. I really need to look at how I can get more done with my time and not impact my hours. In my job, it really doesn't pay to work late nights.

Sean Learns to Swim: Week X+1

It's been a new year's resolution of mine for the last few years to learn how to swim, and a few months ago I finally got around to taking lessons. I took one term, as I also want to learn to drive, but I swim on a regular basis. Usually 3 mornings a week.

I stick to front crawl, which I'm OK at. I dabble in the others - backstroke, breaststroke, but I amn't very good at those yet. Especially the breaststroke. I find the coordination very difficult. I still "drown" the odd time and have to stop, but I'm able to do a few full lengths. More updates on how Monday goes...maybe

Death Cab & Woody Grill

Since I had won free tickets to see Death Cab for Cutie tonight, I decided it would be a great time to revisit our favourite source of falafel and hummous, The Woody Grill. It's amazing - though they had jazzed the place up a bit.

We meandered down to KoKo, only to find a queue that was meandering all the way down the street. We thought "We have tickets, this must be for the people waiting for no-shows", but actually it was for both...not a great set up - but we got in eventually.

It was a good show but there's something wierd about a crowd of random winners. And since the tickets were given away in pairs, it was all about the couples...not that me and Sara are ones to speak - but we don't stand like my arms are glued around her and god help anyone who tries to split us apart.

Death Cab are great. That's all I'm saying. This isn't a review.

A bad start to the week

So I'm all ready for my monday morning swim but can't find my swim pass. I've a funny feeling I left it in my cycle jacket - which I left at work on Friday due to the warmth. So Wednesday it'll have to be.

I did manage to get free tickets for Death Cab for Cutie tonight as part of the iTunes festival. They're playing in KoKo. Have yet to find someone to take my second ticket but I'm sure someone will come along.

Was hoping to work from home today but don't think it'll be possible, looking at the list of things to be done.
